ONYX STORE
The Onyx Store was built during the 1850's by
William Scodie. Originally called Scodie Station,
it was a freight wagon stop for many years. The R
old store has been in continuous operation Wars
these years and is a well-known landmark do
the South Fork of the Kern River. It is até
between the summit of Walker Pass and Lake
Isabella and Kernville. It is readily identified
the huge, aged cottonwood trees that franke the
