Point San Pedro guards the south entrance to
the Golden Gate. It was on ancient maps and
sea explorer Cabrillo probably saw it in 1542.
Portolá camped nearby in 1769 (A), before his
expedition discovered San Fransicso Bay from a
1200 foot mountain ridge (X) in today's scenic
Pacifica. Beyond - San Francisco Airport, San
Bruno, Millbrae, Burlingame and San Mateo.
