CARMEL, CALIFORNIA
Carmel, affectionately called "The Village" dates back to
1904 when a number of young writers and artists built
small shacks on the oak-forested slopes. The town has no
street lights, no street numbers and life does not set the
fast pace found elsewhere. It is one place where a person
has time to live. As one walks along the tree lined streets
he sees a weird conglomerate of Spanish, Italian, French
and English style homes built according to the individual
taste of each owner . . M.P.
