STEPHEN FITCH HOUSE, Old Sturbridge Village,
Sturbridge, Massachusetts. This is a "half gam-
brel" unpainted house typifying the simple farm
dwellings of old New England. Built in three
sections at Willimantic, Connecticut, the first
about 1735. Its spacious, wainscoted rooms and
rugged, granite fireplaces reflect the plain dig-
nity of early family life around which the com-
munity was built. Furnished in detail.
