There are 47 Thermal Springs in the Hot Springs
National Park. The Hot Springs and 4 square
miles surrounding them were set aside by Spe-
cial Act of Congress in 1832 as a Federal Reser-
vation. Today the Federal area includes some
1060 acres. From these springs flow about
1,000,000 gallons of water daily at 85° to 147°
fahrenheit.
