Stanford University is located in the Santa
Clara Valley at Palo Alto, thirty miles south
of San Francisco. The site consists of 8800
acres, --campus proper 1500 acres-and was
founded in 1887 by Senator and Mrs. Leland
Stanford as a memorial to their son. Student
attendance numbers over 4000. The first class
was held in 1891.
