One of the best double play combinations in American League history. Phil Rizzuto and Joe Gordon played together in the 1941, 1942, and 1946 seasons and helped the club to two pennants and one world championship. In 1941 and 1942 the duo led the AL in double plays as the Yankees won the AL flag both years. Gordon was voted the AL's Most Valuable Player in 1942 after hitting .322 with 18 homers and 103 RBI. Rizzuto led all AL shortstops in putouts in 1942.
