Dubbed "Air Force workhorse," the huge C-124 can haul
74,000 lb. of cargó or 200 equipped troops. Nose-door ramp
and a mid-fuselage elevator aid in loading and unloading of
littler cases and equipment like trucks, tanks, and dismantled
aircraft. The YC-124A displayed at the Air Force Museum,
W-PAFB, Ohio, first flew in late 1949. An R-4360 engine is
on exhibit inside the museum building.
