LAKE GREGORY: This beautifully situated man-made lake
was built in 1937, as a project of the fifth district, WPA,
at a cost of $165,000. It was sponsored by the Crest
Forest Water District, funds for the work being supplied
by this agency and the U. S. Forest Service. This in !
creasingly popular year round recreational area, which
includes a wide strip of pine-studded playground, closely
adjoins the famous resort area of Crestline, Calif. Jhen
lake was named in honor of Arthur Gregory, of Redland
an extensive land owner in the locality, who was largely
instrumental in getting Federal support for this proje
