den blaze of light, bluish green and
red softened into each other, illumines
the pitch darkness of the arctic night,
a pale lambent ray shoots upward to
the zenith, flickers a moment, then a
thin reil overspreads the heaveus, dy-
ing slowly, mingling with the black-
ness (by contrast) of the polar ice.
