Columbia State Park
On top of a hill over-looking the gold camp of
Columbia is a two-story red brick school
house said to be the first brick school in Cali-
fornia. The building was open for its first term
on April 14, 1862. Nearby is a grave yard with
marble head stones bearing old-fashioned epi-
