MOBILGAS SPECIAL SOUND CAR
This spectacular automobile is unique, 'among mobile
sound equipment and is offered as a service to civic,
patriotic, and sports event organizations throughout
Southern California by General Petroleum Corporation.
The car was custom built in 1937 by Bohman & Son of
Pasadena, California, for the motion picture "Topper."
Since then, it has been modernized with, a jet-type
front end. The present motor is an 8-cylinder valve-
in-head engine manufactured by General Motors. The
compression ratio is 7 to I, horsepower 150 at 3600
revolutions per minute. Car weight, 5000 pounds.
The sound system can broadcast over an area of 100
acres. Speaker horns, microphones, cables, and other
equipment are carried in a "tear drop" custom-built
trailer weighing 1800 pounds loaded. The trailer is
designed in harmony with the streamlined body of
the car.
