With the signing of the Armistice, November 11th,
1918, and the cessation of the terrible hostilities of
the last four long and anxious years, all thoughts
turn to the great British General who by his fine
Leadership and undaunted faith and tenacity has
brought us to a glorious Victory.
Field-Marshal Sir Douglas Haig was born 19th
June, 1861. Joining the 7th Hussars in 1885, his sub-
sequent distinguished military career led to his being
appointed in 1915, Commander-in-Chief of the British
Expeditionary Forces in France and Flanders.
Held in high esteem by the heads and rank and Alle
of our Allies, he is at once trusted and loved by his
own officers and men..
His name will be handed down in History as one of
the great leaders in the Great War for Freedom.
