Captain Scott set out for the Antarctic on board
the Terra Nova, in 1910, and on February 10th, 1913,
the tragic news was received in London, that he
and four of his comrades who reached the South
Pole on January 18th, 1912, had lost their lives on the
return journey to their ship. Happily the Captain's
Diary has been preserved and gives a record of
British heroism to be handed down to all time,
