GENERAL LEE'S HEADQUARTERS. Gen-
eral Lee advanced with his army along the Chambersburg
Pike and selected as his headquarters this picturesque little
stone house, fronting on the pike. Past this house also filed
that great wagon train of Confederate wounded on the re-
treat, to guard which, General Imboden says was his most
heartbreaking experience of the whole war. 153.
