A Knight To Remember is the 1984 Rose Parade float entry from the
two Cal Poly Universities of Pomona and San Luis Obispo. Depicting
a knight that is being volunteered by his gallant friends to remove a
dragon blocking the path to the castle, the float is Cal Polys' ”Salute
to the Volunteer,” this year's parade theme. Construction of the
float captures the true spirit of the theme since the project is a joint
volunteer effort of students from the two California State
Polytechnic Universities. The Cal Poly entry is the only float in the
parade which is completely designed, constructed, decorated, and
financed by students.
