THE 'GOLDEN HINDE II.' The original Golden
Hinde carried Francis Drake on his famous voyage
round the world in 1577-80. After some years of
planning and careful research the new Golden
Hinde was begun in 1971, and launched at Apple-
dore in Devon on 5 April 1973. Dimensions: length
overall 102 ft. breadth 20 ft. sail area 4,150 sq. ft.
