Famous Prune Orchards and Sotoyome Vale, Healdsburg, Cal.
Back:
TN looking on this view you witness a
scene where flowers are ever blooming;
where the orange, the lemon, the olive,
the grape, the fig, the palm. waving corn,
flowering almonds, the pomgranite, the
English walnut, the hop, the plum, the
peach, pear, prune, apple, cherry, apricot,
nectarine, persimmon, and where all kinds
of berries, melons and vegetables flourish
without artificial aid, and in a radius of
from one-fourth to thirty-five miles are
waters and springs for the healing of the
nations—such as sulphur, soda, iron, carls-
bad, seltzer, magnesia, etc., including hot
and sparkling cold water in abundance.
Furthermore there has never been in this
valley, in the history of man, a failure of
crops, nor the destruction of life or property
by the elements, a place where thunder and
lightning are seldom ever known, and it is
as it shows, a peaceful, prosperous, pleasant
valley of flowers as its Indian name, Soto-
yome Valley, signifies.
Here one can pratically realize that Bib-
lical saying of “Resting from your labours
under your own vine and figtree.”
