The rope swing is one of several obstacles on
the 0.9-mile-long confidence course. Basic trainees
run the course twice during their six weeks of
training. The Training Instructor - the most
important man in a trainee's life at Lackland -
is shown at edge of water barrier (wearing
campaign hat). Lackland AFB, the largest training
center in the free world, is located nine miles
southwest of downtown San Antonio.
