The Ostrich.
(Struthio camelus.)
The Ostrich is a large bird found only in Africa and
Arabia. It is unable to fly but can run remarkably fast,
for it has long and powerful legs. Ostriches are reared
in farms on account of the high value of their feathers.
The male bird, which is larger than the female, under-
takes the care of the family after they have hatched out
the eggs.
