WAUKEGAN, ILL. is the county seat of Lake County,
IN. Its first name was Little Fort. In 1849 the name was
changed to its present form, which is said to be the Indian
translation of the old name. The county takes its name from
the large number of lakes (108) within its limits.
Waukegan is built on the old Ft Sheridan road on the hills
overlooking Lake Michigan. The Chicago & North Western Ry.
supplies excellent facilities for handling the city's traffic.
