The Haymarket Square is located along west Randolph
Street from Des Plaines to north Sangamon Street, 5 city
blocks, and is lined with produce commission houses.
Here the truck gardeners bring in and dispose of their pro-
ducts, the scene during the morning hours being animated
s in the extreme. The famous Haymarket Riot, in which
several policemen were killed by dynamite bombs, oc-
cured here on May 4th, 1868.
