COLLEGE for young women, founded in 1886, is, the female
department of Tulane University. It was given
Josephine Louise Newcomb in memory of her daughter, hose
name it bears. 'Mrs. Newcomb first presented $450,000 to the
college, and at her death in 1900, bequeathed it her vast estate.
The library contains about 10,000 volumes,
