Just east of Carrollton the wide valley of the Missouri is entered and the train follows the river to Kansas City. On the farther side of the river are bold bluffs covered with trees while closer at hand are the cultivated places. Missouri is one of the front rank stats of the Union. Kansas City is the second city in the state in size and importance, and enjoys the distinction of being the sixth city in the United States in bank clearings. It is the second largest railroad center in the world, as well as the second in beef packing and canning. |
