'HIS Card represents the American Battleship Squadron
stationed at Hampton Roads—the strongest fleet ever
assembled under the Stars and Stripes.
Hampton Roads is regarded as the most beautiful among
the naval rendezvous of the world. The memorable naval
engagements of the Civil War took place on or near this
spot, and upon these historic waters the first battle of Iron-
clads was fought. It was here the “Monitor” and “Merrimac"
met, and the greatest engagement in naval history followed.
Here the combined navies of the world can be harbored
and leave room for myriads of merchant craft and pleasure
boats.
