Death Valley National Monument
This Visitor Center was dedicated in 1960 and includes a
Museum, information center, auditorium and Administrative
offices of the National Monument.
The project was sponsored by the Death Valley '49ers Inc.,
planned and constructed under the MISSION 66 program of
the National Park Service. A joint venture in which Borax
(Holdings) Limited donated 90 acres of land, the State of
California donated $350,000, and more than $425,000 of
Federal funds were provided by the National Park Service.
