| This church faces the historic plaza where the Gadsden Purchase was signed in 1854. The adobe structure where Billy the Kid was tried still stands on the S.E. corner of the Plaza. In 1862 Old Mesilla was headquarters of the Military District of Territory of Arizona. (Including the present State of New Mexico.) |
