toward the Joseph Smith properties
During Jesus' ministry he emphasized the building of
the Kingdom on earth. Nauvoo was an attempt in
this direction. At Joseph Smith's death some followed
Brigham Young westward. Others carried on the orig-
inal teachings of the church under Joseph's eldest son,
Joseph III. World headquarters in Independence,
Missouri was dedicated by Joseph Smith in 1831.
