EDISON NATIONAL HISTORIC SITE

Edison, erected in 1887 and used by the great
American inventor until his death in 1931. The
three-story building is the main laboratory, con-
taining Mr. Edison's library-office, stock room,
machine shops, and other working space. Also
shown, from left to right, are the chemical storage
room and pattern shop, the chemical laboratory,
and the physics laboratory. In the foreground is
part of the Main Archives and Museum. Storage
vault built in 1940. These structures and several
additional buildings are now preserved as the
Edison National Historic Site, West Orange, New
Jersey.
