Interior St. Martin Church

INTERIOR, ST. MARTIN CHURCH, St. Martinville, La. Erected in 1832 this church offered the Acadians protection from the Indians as well as spiritual help. At the side of the church is the Evangeline Monument marking the grave of Emmeline Labiche. Tradition claims Emmeline Labiche was the prototype of Longfellow's Heroine.
