BELMONT. “Marble Palace'' was built by William K. Vanderbilt,
and is one of the finest pieces of architecture in Newport: It
is estimated to have cost $ 3,000,000. The main entrance
and stairs are of Sienna stone and the dining room of red
Numidian marble.
