Additional Details:
The Castle of St. Angelo is an imperial mausoleum under another name. It was erected by order of Hadrian, fifteenth Emperor of Rome, who died A.D. 138. Considering that in Hardrian's reign there was a revival of the persecution of the Christians, it is worth noting that he unconsciously provided a place of refuge for the Popes when he built his mauseleum, which is connected with the Vatican by a covered way.
