RI ON CGREENE
Back:
The stern-wheeler Mississippi River steamboat "Gordon
C. Greene" at the levee at Hannibal, Missouri. This is
the type of craft that Mark Twain piloted, and wrote
about in "Life on the Mississippi," "Tom Sawyer," and
"Huckleberry Finn." In the background is the Mark
Twain Memorial Bridge, and Cardiff Hill with the light-
house marking the spot where the "Widow Douglas'
house stood-she kept an oil lamp in her window to guide
steamboat pilots.
