FEDERAL MEDICAL CENTER
SPRINGFIELD, MISSOURI
Located on the southwest outskirts of Spring-
field is the U. S. Medical Center, for Federal
Prisoners the only institution of its kind in the
world. The institution is located on a 445-acre
tract donated by citizens of Springfield to the
government in 1932.
The Federal Medical Center is a 1,150 bed
modern hospital dedicated to the physical, moral
and mental rehabilitation of Federal prisoners.
It is operated jointly by the United States Public
Health Service and the Bureau of Prisons.
