The Old Mill was built in 1682 by early Swedish
settlers. It houses a large waterwheel plainly visible
from the lower level and the Mill Room. The mill
wheel was restored and put into operation in January
of 1958, and is operated solely by water.
This wheel supplied power used to grind the grain
for Washington's troops during their encampment
at nearby Chadds Ford as well as at Valley Forge.
