• SCOTTISH CLANS.”
Raphael Tuck & Song “OIIETTE” [Regd.] Postcard 9401.
The Mackenzie. This clan is of pure Scoto-Gaelic
descent. Their territory is in the north of Scotland, and
they could place 2,500 men in the field. Their war cry
was “Tulach Ard,” the name of a mountain in Kintail, and
their badge “Holly.” The Earl of Seaforth, a former
chief, raised from the clan in 1793 the famous Ross-shire
Buffs, now known as the Seaforth Highlanders. The
Countess of Cromartie is possessor in her own right of
several of the family titles, and is head of an important
branch of the clan. There are several baronets of this
ancient name.
