Valley Forge lies 24 miles from Philadelphia on the banks of the Schuylkill River where the picturesque Valley Creek empties into it. Washington's Army laid encamped on these hills from Dec. 19, 1777, until June 19, 1778, while the British occupied Philadelphia.
