HE LAKE OF THE OZARKS, winding into the
Ozark Mountains for 125 miles through six
counties, with 95 square miles of sparkling water
and a scenic shoreline of 1,300 miles, is the new
Middle-west mecca for tourists and summer colonists.
It is the world's largest wholly artificial body of
water; created by Bagnell Dam, a hydro-electric
power plant of Union Electric Light and Power
Company's System, which serves the St. Louis
District and a large part of the Central Mississippi
Valley.
