ST. JAMES METHODIST CHURCH
was organized in 1895. The old building on
the present site was destroyed by fire in 1924.
In that year a union was effected with the
Oakland Methodist Church. The new building,
a Gothic structure of massive beauty, was
dedicated in 1926. The Parish House, adjoin-
ing the Sanctuary, contains seventy-five rooms.
From the first, St. James Church has occupied
a place in the front rank of Methodism, as
well as a commanding position of influence
and service in Chicago.
