HISTORIC SAN ANDREAS
MOTHER LODE COUNTRY, CALIFORNIA
With its origins dating back to 1848 when it was a
Mexican mining camp, San Andreas is rich in gold-
rush history. Joaquin Murrieta, the notorious early-
California bandit, once lived here. Black Bart, the
stage robber, was jailed and tried here after his cap-
ture in 1883. San Andreas is the County Seat of
Calaveras County.
