Built in 1875, it was renamed the “Mexico" by the
Virginia and Truckee Railroad and renumbered 3
when purchased by the Sierra Nevada Wood and
Lumber Company in 1896. It was next known as
the Hobart Estate and then Hobart Southern and
played an important part in the filming of the movie
UNION PACIFIC and also appeared at the New
York and Chicago fairs.
