History abounds in this old town.
During the war of 1812 the British
Fleet attacked St. Michaels. In colo-

nial times settlers came up the St.
Michaels River, now the Miles River,
landing at the site which later became
St. Michaels.
Baltimore Clippers, Schooners, skip-
jacks and log canoes have all been
built in her shipyards. Oystermen,
crabbers, fishermen, clammers and
