FIRST TERRITORIAL GOVERNOR'S MANSION, 1864 When
territorial officials arrived to organize the new government, one of their first acts
was to contract for the construction of the Mansion. Built of locally hand-hewn
pine logs, it was a “mansion” only because most of the citizens of Prescott lived
in tents or lean-tos. It was home and office for the first two territorial governors.
