Nestled deep in the Allegheny Mountains, the world
famous Horseshoe Curve west of Altoona, PA, serves 50-
60 trains per day. Men using picks, shovels, and mules
built this engineering marvel which opened westward
railroad expansion in 1854. This national historic
landmark includes a visitor center, funicular, gift shop and
seasonal food concession.
