FORT LARNED
Seven miles west of Larned, Kansas
This is the West's only completely preserved
Indian Wars Post.
It was established in 1859 as the first military
post west of Ft. Riley to guard the mails and
travelers along the dangerous part of the Santa
Fe Trail. These buildings were the Officers
Quarters.
