Additional Details:
Constructed September 15, 1918 of telegraph poles donated by Rock Island Lines and Pratt Telephone Company, and named "Pershing Inn" in honor of General Pershing. the structure was erected in one day by patriotic Rock Island Employees and citizens of Pratt. Food and refreshments were served to an average of 1,500 soldiers and sailors each month during its service. "Pershing Inn" still stands at the west end of Rock Island Station, and is now used as an office.
