HOUSE AND BELL - SAM HOUSTON PARK.
The old house and the old bell in Sam Houston or With Park
are its chief attractions. The house was erected in 1840, and
has solid brick walls and heavy timbers. The old bell, set up
in a small structure built for it, was taken at Galveston by the
Confederates from the gunboat “Harriet Lane'', and brought
to Houston. It now rings out the opening and closing hours
of the park.
