Front:
Thomas Jefferson's
Monument.
This monument originally stood
over the grave of Jefferson at
Monticello but was replaced by
the United States Government by
a more fitting memorial. This,
the original monument, was pre-
sented to the University of Mis-
souri by his descendants in 1883.
It is builded, exactly as Jefferson
instructed and bears the inscrip-
tions, written by him
It is one of the pleasing sights
of the campus and has a rever,
ential place in the hearts and
minds of the students and alumni
of the University.
