Kansas City covers 58 square miles ofterritory
and has a population of 290,000; Kansas City,
Kansas has a population of 90,000, which makes
the combined population of the two cities prop-
er about 380,000. There are over 325 miles
of paved streets in the city. It has the finest
park and boulevard system of any city of its
size in the world, consisting of 2100 acres of
public parks and play-grounds, 30 miles of
parkways, and 40 miles of boulevards and park
drives. Kansas City is the largest agricult-
ural implement center in the world, the second
largest railroad and packing center, and stands
sixth in bank clearings, although ranking
thirtieth in population in the United States.
