LYNDON HOTEL, LOS GATOS, CALIFORNIA. In the 1840's
saw mills operated in the canyons above the present town.
After a stage line was established, the Ten Mile House
Station was located across the street from this hotel. It
was first kept by Henry Cobb and later by John Weldon
Lyndon, a man from Vermont, who purchased 100 acres
of land in the vicinity. The successor of the Ten Mile
House was the Los Gatos Hotel, which was moved across
the street in 1877 to give place to a station for the rail-
way built at that time .. M.P.
